Venkatesh Prabhu, better known by his screen-name Dhanush, is skinny, gawky and unheroic! So what? He has had two blockbusters and one hit so far, and is the most wanted hero in Tamil film industry today
With his latest release Thiruda Thirudi doing excellent business at the box-office, Dhanush has proved to his critics that he was no flash in the pan. However this young unassuming hero gives the full credit to his directors for all the success. He believes that ``A movie`s fate is in the hands of the director.`` According to Dhanush, a successful actor is ``80 percent talent and 20 percent luck``. He adds that he worked extremely hard to get into the roles that he has played. He spends a lot of time watching movies and admires Tom Hanks, Al Pacino, Dustin Hoffman, Robert De Niro and Jim Carrey.
Whether his moves are carefully planned or he`s been plain lucky, for the third time in succession, Dhanush has chosen his character that is bound to pay rich dividends. In Thiruda Thirudi he has a light role that provides enjoyable comic streaks, very different from the one he portrayed in Thulluvatho and Kadhal Kondain.
He has proved that if time and talent are on your side, height, weight and looks hardly matter. His lanky physique and a visage that has no marked features remind you of action heroes - the Bruce Lee kind, especially in the stunt sequences. His favourite hero is Rajnikanth and favourite sport is tennis.
